帯化の『御池塘自治』。東京を拠点に活動するツーピース・ロックバンド、帯化の第三音源集。サイケデリック、ポストパンク、インダストリアル、フォーク、タイポップス、日本民謡を横断する音像は、生活のなかでフィールドレコーディングされたあらゆる環境音に食い破られながらも、「ロックバンド」という様式のなかでその先の光明を捉える。

ハイハットをドラムセットから排除し、タムを中心に組み立てられたドラムパターンは、途中、シンバルの代わりに据えられた鉄板をぶん殴ることでインダストリアルサウンドに寄り道しながら、徐々に祭囃子に似てくる。ツーピースという節制されたスタイルは、電動ドリルや鈴の音、あらゆるメタルパーカッション類が入り込む余地を残しながら、くぐもったギターと共に、コブシの効いた歌がそれらを「歌謡」として取りまとめる。ユースカルチャーのなかでの特権的な位置を失ったその後で、「ロックバンド」が持ち得る可能性を拡張せんとする、二人組の「河原者」が編み上げた今作、『御池塘自治』に宿っているのは、西洋文化たる「ロックバンド」の誤った翻訳、ローカライズの運動であり、同時に極めてオーソドックスな文化的諸力である。

This is the third sound collection by Taika, a two-piece rock band based in Tokyo.
The soundscape, spanning across psychedelic, post-punk, industrial, folk, Thai pop, and Japanese folk music, is intertwined with various environmental sounds recorded in daily life's course but manages to grasp the forthcoming light in the fashion of a ''rock band''.
The drum pattern, constructed around toms without hi-hats, gradually morphs into a festival-like rhythm, taking a detour into industrial territory by striking a steel plate in lieu of cymbals.
The restrained two-piece style provides space for electric drills, bells, and an array of metallic percussion instruments, while the muffled guitars and raspy vocals unite everything into a cohesive ''song.''
''On Chitou Jichi" is the creation of the duo ''Kawaramono'', who, after losing their privileged position in youth culture, endeavor to expand the possibilities that ''rock bands'' can offer. ''On Chitou Jichi'' is an exploration of the misconstrued translation and localization of "rock bands" in Western culture, simultaneously representing an exceedingly conventional cultural tour de force.
