JOEL CHADABE の『Intelligent Arts』。60年代から実験的な電子音楽に携わるアメリカの音楽家であり、インタラクティブな音楽システムの先駆者でもある JOEL CHADABE の作品をコンパイルしたシリーズ第３弾『Intelligent Arts』。JOEL CHADABE は Lovely Music Ltd にも作品を残し、Bob Moog のドキュメンタリー映画「Electronic Voyager」でも一際スポットを当てられています。

この第３弾『Intelligent Arts』では、1973年から81年に録音された音源を収録していて、デジタル・シンセサイザー Synclavier と、マッキントッシュのコンピューターを駆使し作り上げられた作品です。前衛的なジャズ・インプロビゼーションのような構造を持った曲から、高田みどりのファンも楽しく聴けるであろうパーカッシブなサウンドまで収録。今の耳で聴いても強力に面白いです。EMF Media、Deep Listening、CDCM、Western Front、Centaur、Lovely Music、Opus One、CP2、Folkways の各レーベルからリリースされたアルバム作品から収録。

デジパック仕様、ライナーノート付きで Electronic Music Foundation よりリリース。

'From the 14th On' realized in 1973.

'Scenes from Stevens' realized in 1979, "based on works by Wallace Stevens and created on [the] Synclavier. The first performance was November 11, 1979 at the PS1 Soundshow in New York. This edit has been created specifically for this anthology."

'Solo 2-08' recorded in 1979. This is an edited version from the recording originally released on Various - From The Kitchen Archives - New Music New York 1979.

'Sonarchy' recorded in 1981. "This recording is an excerpt from a concert...at the Western Front 'Sonarchy' festival on February 20, 1981 in British Columbia, Canada... Digitized audio of the complete concert is available through the Western Front Archives upon research request."

'Rhythms for Computer and Percussion' recorded in 1981, originally released on Joel Chadabe - Rhythms For Computer And Percussion although this release does not specify which section of the original recording appears here.

'Rhythms VI' was recorded in August 1988 at Page Hall, State University of New York at Albany, and was commissioned by Capital Chamber Artists.

'Modalities' was realized in 1990 and was originally released on Various - CDCM Computer Music Series Vol. 7: Compositions By Neil B. Rolnick, Pauline Oliveros, Julie Kabat, Barton McLean & Joel Chadabe.

'After Some Songs' originally released on Joel Chadabe - After Some Songs although that is not specified in the liner notes.

'Spring Drum' was commissioned by the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company and recorded at The Egg in Albany, NY, on May 3, 1997.
